Chevalier David Jansen MDA is a professional artist and educator from Sidney, Nebraska. David studied chemistry in Cal Poly University but has always enjoyed art. David received a degree of Master Decorative Artist in 1990. David received the Gold Medal from the Korean Society of Decorative Artists and was knighted by the French government (Chevalier) in 2007 for his work in preserving the history and traditions of the arts. David has painted for many private collections including the White House collection and the Smithsonian. Together, David and his wife Martha have traveled over 1 million miles, throughout Asia, Australia, South, and North America, and Europe, teaching new methods of painting while preserving the history and techniques of the historical styles. David currently paints and teaches at the Jansen Art Studio in Pennsylvania as well as several other countries with his wife Martha and daughter Jessica. Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum is the only museum in the nation devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design. A branch of the Smithsonian since 1967, Cooper-Hewitt is housed in the landmark Andrew Carnegie Mansion on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. It was established by Act of Congress in 2003 following decades of efforts to promote and highlight the contributions of African Americans.
