Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met on May 12, 1975, on the first day of rehearsals for the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar in Sydney. They became instant friends who shared much in common, including their love of The Beatles. Seven consecutive Top-Five singles at that time equaled The Beatles’ run. The albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now and Forever, and The Greatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies. “Lost in Love” was named song of the year in 1980 and along with the other singles, sold more than 10 million copies. In the 1970s, 150 hours of Beatles rehearsal tapes recorded for the "Let It Be" documentary were stolen and leaked onto the black market. 30 years later these 'Nagra reels' were recovered by British and Dutch police during an intercontinental sting called "Operation Acetone." In 2021, some of these recordings were used for Peter Jackson's "Get Back" docuseries. A holy grail of rare and abandoned Beatles music remains on the cutting room floor.

My videos are intended for accomplished guitarists wanting to improve their Beatles repertoire and can benefit from "seeing" how a song is played - I am not a guitar teacher and do not provide tabs. I welcome specific questions. If the various chords that I am playing are not familiar to you then I would suggest that you visit some of the many free guitar chord sites. I had to learn these songs by listening to vinyl records and watching live performances on tv. I am trying to recreate performances note for note. I generally delete duplicate parts of the song to make it easier for me to get an acceptable take - these videos take many hours over several days to complete. I close mic record the guitar amplifier into a small digital recorder and then mix it along with the backing tracks which I create from the original recordings. A slight amount of compression is used in the mix. I have done one song from Rubber Soul but have concentrated on studio albums through the Help! album.
