Oslo Philharmonic

The Oslo Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra of international renown. It was formed in 1919 and today has 108 musicians in its ranks. The Oslo Philharmonic plays between 60 and 70 concerts in Oslo each year, mostly at Oslo Concert Hall, but also at several other venues. The orchestra has a broad symphonic repertoire, plays with internationally acclaimed soloists and conductors and regularly tours in Norway and abroad. Klaus Mäkelä is the orchestra´s chief conductor.

Aksel Rykkvin

Aksel Rykkvin (b. 2003) was "the world's premier boy soprano", according to Swedish Radio P2. He recorded two critically appraised albums on Signum Classics (London) and was nominated as Newcomer of the year for the Spellemannprisen award in Norway in 2017. After receiving gushing reviews for major child roles at the mainstage of the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, he was recruited to the Opéra Comique in Paris in September 2017 to have his international debut as "Anthony" in "Miranda". Aksel has held many solo concerts as well as performed as a soloist with the foremost Norwegian classical musicians and orchestras, including the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Arve Tellefsen. He has performed in major tv and radio shows in Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and UK and has reached millions through YouTube and Facebook. After his voice changed in 2017, he has already held solo concerts as a baritone while continuing music studies and training with his main voice teacher, Matthew Mark Marriott.

Klaus Mäkelä

Klaus Mäkelä is Chief Conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director of Orchestre de Paris and Artistic Director of the Turku Music Festival. In June 2022, the Concertgebouw Orchestra announced that in a ten-year commitment, Mäkelä is joining the orchestra as artistic partner with effect from the 2022/23 season, then as chief conductor from 2027. An exclusive Decca Classics Artist, he recorded the complete Sibelius Symphony cycle with the Oslo Philharmonic as his first project for the label which was released in March 2022.
