Hello! My name is Jaya, I live in southern Ibaraki, just an hour out of central Tokyo, with my wife and our twin boys. In this channel I'm documenting the process of buying and renovating an abandoned Japanese farmhouse. #Renovating a former #akiya (empty house) Edo Period #kominka in Hiroshima prefecture, #Japan. Bought on Christmas morning, 2021. A serious health issue paused my work and caused me to think deeply about how I was leading my life. Plans to modernize the kitchen and amenities, and then rent it out as a holiday home. From there, I plan to get another, and another, and so on. For now, I just want to focus on being the best I can be, mentally and in my heart. My name is Danny. Join me as I attempt to renovate an old abandoned house, known as akiya, in Japan. The house is located in the rural serene countryside ( inaka ) coastal town called Ine in Kyoto prefecture. This is my attempt to restart my life in a way I intended to live it since I was younger. I have always enjoyed a slower pace of life and realized that I have spent half my life in busy cities and never realized my dream to live somewhere peaceful and without the hustle and stress of big cities. I left Osaka city (escaped) and now I will attempt to make a living in the Japanese countryside and renovated the cheap house I bought. I will do most of the work myself and try to share everything I learned along the way. I will also share about local culture, Japanese stories, and humor along the way to make the videos not only informative but fun. Let's enjoy the adventure together!

I am a foreigner living in rural Japan. We bought a vacant house (Akiya) in the beautiful countryside of Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture. We performed an extensive renovation to this vacant or empty traditional Japanese house with many modern features while keeping its traditional charm.
