In that time, our lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved more than 144,000 lives. Working together with partners and communities, we aim to educate, influence, supervise and rescue those at risk from drowning. I spent 6 years at sea travelling the world while serving in the Royal Navy (two Frigates and an Aircraft Carrier). But I have been around boats and the sea since I was a kid. I also spent just under two years volunteering as a coastal crew member in the RNLI (search and rescue) at one of the busiest RNLI stations in the UK. I LOVE cruising in rough weather (as long as I am on the right vessel!) I have had a passion for boats/yachts and the sea since I was 9-years-old (31 years ago!). When I was a teenager, I used to read 'Boat International' and I spent many hours daydreaming about life on the water. Anyone who has been to sea, and enjoyed their experience, will confirm that once you are 'hooked' then there is no going back. I love explorer yachts and trawler yachts and anything that floats on the water. I also love naval architecture and marine engineering & technology. This channel is about sharing my passion with other like-minded seafarers and shipmates :-)

I live in Guernsey in the Channel Islands which is situated in the English Channel, just south west of Cherbourg, France. We are British but not part of the UK, we are part of the British Commonwealth. We have our own government, taxes and laws. I make my videos about stuff that happens here and can be seen here in Guernsey and the other Channel Islands covering various subjects. Sometimes funny, Sometimes cool, Sometimes serious. National Sea Rescue Institute: The urgent need for a sea rescue organisation in South Africa was highlighted in 1966 when 17 fishermen drowned after three fishing boats sank in a terrible storm near Still Bay. Due to the lack of a rescue service there was no help for them other than from a fishing boat that managed to weather the storm and save a single crewman from the three boats that sank. Following this incident, Miss Pattie Price (whose own life had been saved by the RNLI lifeboat in the British Channel) began a committed letter-writing campaign to motivate the formation of a sea rescue organisation. Captain Bob Deacon and Mr Ray Lant were the first volunteers to respond to this call. The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) was established in 1967 when it acquired its first rescue craft -- a 4.7m inflatable boat called Snoopy donated by the Society of Master Mariners.

A five year mission to capture the spirit behind a vital piece of our unique island life — the RNLI community.

This channel is the home of RNLI Shout - a group of YouTubers collaborating with a group of life savers! Together with the YouTube community, we're taking on challenges in an attempt to raise money for an RNLI lifeboat and to prove to the world that, despite what you read in the paper, the youth of today are not all knife-wielding, hoodie-wearing, ASBO-collecting yobs. Well... apart from the hoodie bit - we love a good hoodie! So far we have lobbied Apple, 'Sold our Secrets', and held two YouTube gatherings to raise money. If you're interested in these old challenges, they're documented in the playlists to the right of the video player on this page.
