Boston was essentially the vehicle of guitarist & studio wizard Tom Scholz. He began writing songs at MIT. After graduation, he made his own recording studio in his basement, where Scholz and vocalist Brad Delp recorded demos that earned them a contract with Epic (and became Boston). Boston had three hit singles ("More Than a Feeling," "Long Time" and "Peace of Mind") & shot to the top of the charts. Despite the record's success, Scholz spent over two years working on 1978's number one hit Don't Look Back; a perfectionist, he only then released the album because of label pressure. The chart-topping Third Stage came in 1986, where only Scholz and Delp remained from the original lineup. When Walk On came out in 1994, Scholz was the lone remaining member. Corporate America came out in 2003. A shadow was cast by the 2007 suicide of Delp, but the band's 6th album, Love Life & Hope, came in 2013. The album featured vocals by Delp & was a return to the classic Boston sound of the '70s.
