The British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) is one of the biggest and most influential motor racing organisations in the United Kingdom, with a rich history that stretches back more than 100 years. You may have encountered Branko before without knowing it –either through the music he made with the widely adored collective Buraka Som Sistema, through his label Enchufadaor through his work creating, producing and presenting the travel show 'Club Atlas for Portuguese national television, his production work for MIA, or from hearing the monthly NTS radio show ‘Enchufada Na Zona’ -Branko is deeply involved in many facets of the creation and the ongoing establishment of new Portuguese-speaking music scenes. This had led to him being viewed as a kind of cultural agitator, active on many fronts besides being a recording and touring artist. Introducing Soma, his fourth solo, recorded in Lisbon over a three-day jam session, where Branko challenged some of the most critical Lisbon based musicians to improvise over a rhytmic framework. This turned into non-stop hours of recording and later served to accumulate a repository of grooves who served as the beatprint for the album.
