I’m on a mission to rebuild a 1910 English sailing yacht called Tally Ho. Designed by Albert Strange in 1909, she is a well-known and important historic vessel – but after many adventures she was left in a remote port in Oregon to rot for decades, despite some valiant attempts to rescue her. I bought her and moved her to the Olympic Peninsular earlier this year, and am now rebuilding her from the keel up. Eventually I hope to sail her back to the UK.

Although building classic wooden boats was a passion and skill, Zach's real love was always for the outdoors. This would be expressed by his years providing for his family, occupying an off-grid Yurt-style home, and living a self-sufficient lifestyle. Fowler's enthusiasm for the outdoors and strong work ethic was proven when he applied for and won History channel's “Alone” show, where he survived for 87 days in Patagonia, "catch and cooking" 63 fish and 2 birds. After surviving and winning the show Fowler chose to start his own Youtube channel where he could reach an audience and share his appreciation and knowledge of the great outdoors through video series such as the “30 Day Survival Challenge” and “Trick-Shot-Tuesday”. After four years of boatwork, we have untied the lines and realized the dream of cruising the world. Julia is a wooden Atkin Ingrid ketch, traditionally built in 1960. Her recent voyage began in 2021, in Seattle, Washington, and has included sailing south along the US west coast to Mexico, and west across the Pacific Ocean. She was made for the seas, and has continued to show us that sailing on a wooden boat has been worth all the effort to make it happen. Thanks for following along as we share film from our adventures. Hello World Salt & Tar is a husband and wife duo determined to build a 35 foot custom George Buehler designed wooden gaff ketch sailboat; documenting their undertaking. 2.5 years into the project, Garrett and Ruth transported the boat to the San Francisco Bay Area. It began up a hill in Washington state. Equipped only with a 5000W generator, a few power tools, and resolution, Rediviva has grown from a stack of lumber to a boat. Continuing the project on the ocean they left the dock in the Napa Valley Marina after 7 years of non-stop building. Follow the adventure and come along for Rediviva's first nautical miles. Hi! We are Ben & MP and we now own a massive wooden schooner that needs A LOT of work done. Many people told us the boat we chose was doomed, but we refuse to settle on that thought and we are going to do whatever it takes to make this boat a happy sailor again. We are both rookies when it comes to boat ownership and carpentry, so this is going to be a steep learning curve for us which we are ready to embrace. Luckily we found an amazing team of shipwrights that accepted the challenge of bringing Yabá back to life. But we are not only watching them work, besides documenting everything, we are also very keen to learn so we can do as much as possible ourselves, always knowing when to leave it to the experts.
