National anthems need to adopt 'progressive, contemporary language'

Moving into the future, national anthems will need to become more progressive and more contemporary in regard to the language used, according to Australian singer Kate Ceberano.

 “Obviously girt, it is a very old-fashioned word, we don’t usually use it,” Ms Ceberano said. 

Sky News host Chris Smith responded, “but it’s ours”.

“It’s become ours -  I love girt,” he said.
