Dai Shihan Mark Roemke (and his new knee) demonstrates moving to an optimal angle that is offline of attack with minimal footwork.  Counterattack where Uke cannot see. 

Uke throws a kick towards your stomach.  Move offline with your stepping while parrying away the kick and counter with a Boshi Ken with the feeling of Chi No Kata.  Counter while moving back offline or stepping forward after parrying the kick.
