Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens is a singer-songwriter currently living in New York. A preoccupation with epic concepts has motivated two state records (Michigan & Illinois), a collection of sacred and biblical songs (Seven Swans), an electronic album for the animals of the Chinese zodiac (Enjoy Your Rabbit), two Christmas box sets (Songs for Christmas, vol. 1-5 and Silver & Gold, vol. 6-10), and a programmatic tone poem for the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (The BQE). In 2010 Sufjan released an expansive EP (All Delighted People) and the full length The Age of Adz, a collection of songs partly inspired by the outsider artist Royal Robertson. In March 2015, Sufjan released Carrie & Lowell. His most recent releases include Planetarium, an Oscar-nominated song for the film Call Me By Your Name, The Ascension (2020), and a collaboration with with Angelo De Augustine , A Beginner's Mind (2021). In Oct 2023, Stevens tenth solo studio project, Javelin, will be released.

Asthmatic Kitty Records

Born in 1999, Asthmatic Kitty Records was originally conceived as a platform for musical projects by a community of artists from Holland, Michigan, a small city on the shore of Lake Michigan. Some were Holland natives, and others had come to attend local colleges and universities. While the original Holland nucleus has now dispersed to various parts of the country, the fellowship is still growing, with new friends and shared projects with other independent labels. Asthmatic Kitty is now based in Lander, Wyoming, Indianapolis, Indiana and New York City. Asthmatic Kitty was named after Sara, a voluptuous orange and white longhair who wandered out of the woods in 1995, pregnant, starving, and afflicted with various parasites and ailments, including feline asthma. Although she still wheezes a bit, especially when being chased by her sister Tabby, Sara today enjoys a healthy and happy life of luxury. Cast-off animals make the best pets!

The Influences

There is no better way to discover music than watching great musicians cover the songs they love. Songs that influenced them and their work. The Influences has been producing these videos ever since 2008. From The Tallest Man On Earth, Damien Jurado, The Staves, Molly Tuttle, Anaïs Mitchell, Josh Ritter and Keaton Henson to Peter Broderick, from Tim Knol, Moss and Bertolf to Bettie Serveert, and from Daniel Romano, Courtney Marie Andrews, Blitzen Trapper, The Low Anthem to Allah-Las or Hiss Golden Messenger; they and hundreds of others were more than willing to pay tribute to the songs that inspire them. The Influences - also known under its original Dutch title Onder Invloed - has been growing steadily for over a decade, run by me. The first book ‘Onder Invloed’ - featuring profiles on seventeen Dutch musicians - was published in January 2012 by publisher L.J. Veen. Please visit https://www.theinfluences.com

SonLuxVEVO

SON LUX is led by Ryan Lott. His first record, At War With Walls and Mazes, made him NPR’s All Songs Considered's "Best New Artist" of 2008. In 2011 he released his second album, We Are Rising. His third full-length, Lanterns, ended up on many Best Of 2013 year-end lists. His latest release, the 2014 Alternate Worlds EP, reworks four songs from Lanterns, and features a song with Lorde. He's also worked with Beyoncé producer Boots and Richard Parry (Arcade Fire). Indie darlings Sufjan Stevens and Peter Silberman (The Antlers), composers Nico Muhly and Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw, rappers Serengeti, Busdriver and Beans (Antipop Consortium), and MacArthur Genius Grant recipient and Bluegrass legend Chris Thile are all recent collaborators. Son Lux also composes for film, theater and dance. Film credits include arranging and programming for four major features, most notably Looper (2012) and Don Jon (2013). He scored the forthcoming Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (2014).

Noise and Bells

Rachel Gardener sings sad songs in invented languages. This channel features original songs and parodies in various conlangs, particularly Lojban and other logical languages. I also occasionally post other kinds of Lojban content such as vlogs, let's plays, and learning materials. The style and instrumentation of my songs is primarily inspired by early 2000s MIDI music, while other creative influences include Regina Spektor, Sufjan Stevens, Ben Folds, and many more. You can download my songs from my Bandcamp page here: https://noiseandbells.bandcamp.com/ I have also created a constructed language called Xextan, which is a logical language similar to Lojban, with an emphasis on simplicity, conciseness, and ease of learning. We even have a Discord server now! https://discord.gg/4Wz7EeQJ2g

Enda Gallery

Enda Gallery is an artist with a real purpose, and that is to create beautiful and liberating art. He takes influence from genre defying artists such as Frank Ocean and Prince - mixed with the deep sincerity of songwriters like Sufjan Stevens, Alicia Keys and even Freddie Mercury. He offers up his truest realisations and experiences in his songs. Enda Gallery released his debut album ‘The Journey to Zero’ in 2021. It was named RTÉ ‘Album of Week’ with the ballad ‘Don’t Let Me Win’ winning favour from Cerys Matthews on BBC6 and his follow up ‘It’s Alright’ featuring on the ‘BBC Introducing mixtape’ and the break-out series ‘Normal People’. His history of producing and enabling unconventional artists such as Tolü Makay, Strange Boy and Kid Simius across many genres has gifted him the capability to create from the soul and mix and combine genres as a chemist mix elements. Jams & Tea

Welcome to Jams & Tea! Here we talk about the latest and greatest in music and music culture. We are a collective of friends from across the globe, an ever-expanding family taking an earnest and in-depth look at albums and phenomena in the music world every week. We usually release three videos a week - in the first we review two new releases, in the second we talk about the latest in music news as well as a new weekly discussion topic, and we also celebrate (and sometimes castigate) records new and old in our Record Club series. Beyond music, we have film discussion, anime and video game content, long-form creative projects and much more, so stick around - odds are, we have something for everyone!
