Singer/Songwriter/Musician: Rohit John Chettri RJC is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Kathmandu. Born in 1991, he found fame early when he uploaded some songs onto YouTube in 2013. His song ‘Bistarai’ received more than a million views, shooting him into the public spotlight at the young age of 21. In 2015, Rohit released an album by the same name, which established him firmly as a talent to watch. At the same time, he was asked to sing ‘Priyasiko’ for Gopal Yonjan’s tribute album ‘Gopalaya’. That year, Rohit was awarded Hits FM Best New Artist of the Year. “I was working and study at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory at the time, and had realized that this is what I want to do: I want to play music and sing as professionals do.” It was around this time that he was noticed by Sanjay Shrestha, drummer from 1974AD, Nepal’s most famous rock band. NEW PHASE BAND previously known as NAMO band hails from Jorebunglow, a small town, 8 KMs away from Darjeeling main town. The band was formed back in the year 2005. The band members were Prabin Chhettri as vocalist and lead guitarist, Tashi Bhutia as drummer and Umesh Gazmer as rhythm guitarist. Jigme & Kewal was in band occassionally.The band used to participate in different programmes in those days. The band was capturing the hearts of many local publics with their own compose songs when in the year 2010 when all of a sudden Prabin Chhettri (Vocalist & Lead Guitarist) left this world. Since then the remaining 2 members of the band Tashi & Umesh were also not in touch with their music journey until recently both got reunited and decided to launch one of their compose song CHOKHO CHA MERO MAYA sang by Tashi in the memory of Late Prabin Chhettri, their beloved Lead Guitarist and Vocalist. The band has composed many songs and they are deciding to release other songs too in coming days.
