Stu Brooks is a two-time grammy nominated, Canadian born/Los Angeles-based bass player, producer, songwriter and founding member of the genre-bending band Dub Trio. Stu is bassist and co-producer for the multi-award winning filmscore composer and founder of Oingo Boingo, Danny Elfman. His work on the project includes producing collaborations with Trent Reznor, Ghostemane and Iggy Pop and executive producing over 20 remixes. He is currently producing songs for Perry Farrell’s upcoming solo album as well as playing bass for his Kind Heaven Orchestra. He is also bassist, musical director and frequent collaborator for GRiZ and spent a decade with Matisyahu as bassist, co-writer, MD and producer. Scotty Moore, Ronnie Earl. Two of my favorite guitar players. Scotty Moore because of this Elvis/Memphis band I'm doing right now. I love his little solos in Elvis' rock'n'roll songs. They're miniatures within the song. And they keep exciting me time after time. Ronnie Earl's golden stratocaster sound always amazes me. I saw him for the first time with Roomful Of Blues in Bruges (1985 or 1986?). And I saw him many times after that. Of course there are many other guitar players I adore : Johnnie Bassett, all the Kings : Freddy, BB, Albert, Duke Robillard, the Vaughan Brothers : Jimmie and Stevie, Hollywood Fats, Danny Gatton, Roy Buchanan, Danny Flowers, Rick Holmstrom, T-Bone Walker, Redd Volkaert, Ry Cooder, and many more. I also love African music, especially Soukous guitar. I learned to play this style, which consists basically in playing major scales. As opposed to Blues, which is basically playing minor scales.
