Alabama Band

Before Alabama, bands were usually relegated to a supporting role in country music. In the first part of the century, bands were popular with audiences across the country, but as recordings became available, nearly every popular recording artist was a vocalist, not a group. Alabama was the group that made country bands popular again. Emerging in the late '70s, the band had roots in both country and rock; in fact, many of Alabama's musical concepts, particularly the idea of a performing band, owed more to rock and pop than hardcore country. However, there is no denying that Alabama is a country band -- the bandmembers' pop instincts may come from rock, but their harmonies, songwriting, and approach are indebted to country, particularly the Bakersfield sound of , bluegrass, and the sound of Nashville pop. A sleek country-rock sound made the group the most popular country group in history, selling more records than any other artist of the '80s and earning stacks of awards.

Jenny Tolman

Born and raised in Nashville TN, having grown up around the music business, her grasp of country music’s roots are well beyond her years. She is classy and courageous behind a guitar, sassy and self deprecating in spirit, and masterful in her ability to make sense of life’s ironies by putting them under a poetic microscope. Often compared to a young Emmy Lou Harris, Jenny’s voice is striking in its subtlety, and vibrant in its personality. As she’s been performing around the country from California to Massachusetts, having opened for such acts as Alabama, Love and Theft, Brandy Clark and Cole Swindell, the response from fans of all ages has been overwhelming. As everything country music could be again, Jenny Tolman brings that refreshing charm to an art form that so many of us cherish.

Sarah Simmons

If you get the chance to meet Sarah Simmons, you won't soon forget it. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Sarah's musical influences started in her home long before she can remember. From the strumming of her Dad's guitar to watching old musical classics with her grandmother, Sarah was raised around melody. Throughout her childhood she pursued a number of avenues that would provide training and experience to further her dreams of someday singing professionally and touching others' hearts through song. At 13, Sarah began traveling the country and performing with a musical theater troupe. At 15, her dad gave her a guitar and she started writing her first original songs. And at 20 she set out for Memphis to study vocal music at Visible Music College. For Sarah, the measure of success is simple: if she can inspire hope in her audience, she's made it.

alabamabandfan93

This is a country music channel. I have over 3000 songs, ranging from 1935 to 2000, so expect decent variety. As you would guess by the name, there's plenty of Alabama music to go around. I hope to eventually upload most of my music to Youtube (except for the few non country songs I have as well as songs that I got from other Youtube users videos). Enjoy the music!

Sally Gentry

My Bio. I also tell stories about my life and my writing journey. I hope you join me!! God Bless! Sally Gentry Lutz – or ‘Sally G’ as Nashville knows her - is a prolific lyricist, and naturally so. This bubbly brunette is the only daughter of Teddy Gentry – bassist, singer and songwriter for legendary band Alabama, the most awarded group in the history of country music. Sally G may be country music royalty – but she remains a home-grown soul whose passionate poetry spills from her Lookout Mountain, Alabama roots. Teddy Gentry serenaded his baby girl on her 2nd birthday with Alabama’s “Never Be One” – and Sally’s tiny voice coos “Goodnight, Daddy” at its close. Now, this mom of five has penned 450 songs and signed with Kids South Music. The shoe’s on the other foot, as Southerners say. “Half of Who You Are” is really a daughter’s ageless love letter to her daddy. Now it becomes the haunting ballad that hijacks your mind and makes you a Sally G believer. By: LaRue Hardinger

Dustin Herring

Growing up in south Alabama, country music was the backdrop to Dustin Herring’s childhood. It played from tractor and treehouse radios and everywhere in between. Even with music all around him, it wasn’t until college he realized he could become a musician himself. He headed to Auburn University to study agriculture business, and while he was there, a friend taught him to play a few guitar chords. Songwriting became a form of therapy and led to him winning the songwriter contest at the 2012 Colgate Country Showdown. Meanwhile, Dustin worked on a research farm in the Mississippi Delta, writing songs and saving up for a move to Nashville. Since arriving in the Music City in 2014, he’s opened for well-known performers including Jamey Johnson, Ashley McBryde, Mark Chestnutt, Doug Stone and many more. When he's not playing shows across the U.S., you'll find him hard at work recording new music in the studio. Find him on all streaming platforms and @dustinherringmusic on social media.
