Hello! My name is Anna, I'm a languages addict and a specialist in Scandinavian languages and studies. Since 2021, I've been collaborating with Nordic folk band SKÁLD as their linguistic consultant for their songs in Nordic languages, especially Old Norse. Mine are the lyrics of their 2021 single "Jólanótt" and pretty much their whole 2023 "Huldufólk" album. ► Jólanótt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so89GUAWv3Y&list=PLKscGWQqgJ6LiUYXnRuHqkE892tvPMMKJ&index=1 ► Huldufólk: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKscGWQqgJ6IaU29W_jmMD46HwBPb1oQA

Jan Johansson Acoustic Music

Welcome to my YouTube channel. One of my main areas of interest is salvaging and preserving important moments in the history of bluegrass music. This rather large undertaking includes digitizing historic concert footage and audio recordings , collecting eyewitness accounts by interviewing various people in the industry – artists, promoters, fans, sound engineers, teachers, luthiers etc. Over the last 30 years I’ve accumulated a substantial collection of VHS tapes of mostly bluegrass related content from countless different sources. These tapes are now deteriorating gradually and need to be salvaged. I share only footage/audio that is not available on the internet. If you would like to support my efforts you can do so by going to the link below and check out my Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/join/AcousticJohansson? ...and please don’t forget to subscribe to my youtube channel. https://youtube.com/c/JanJohanssonmusic

Irina Skuld

Fancy some fascinating well-documented bits on Vikings, Norse myths, or more general the Scandinavian/Germanic space, with its languages, histories and culture? Then this channel may be something for you! My channel has three directions: one is language-oriented, about idioms, phrases, etymologies in Germanic languages, the other one historical, that is about Norse religion, culture, the Viking age, and then I also post on interesting cultural aspects, society, mentalities specific to Scandinavia or Germany. Occasionally exploring other topics as well. I am Irina, am a professional historian with a PhD in history (Viking Studies), as well as a history teacher currently based in Germany. I hold online masterclasses on Norse religion, write academic content and am always eager to learn and share, with no agenda. The Skaldic Bard

I'm a Catholic British/Irish medieval enthusiast who likes to play instruments and write and sing songs about times gone by, often accompanied by my beloved wife. I am a translator of the Scandinavian languages in my day job, but have a special penchant for the Old Norse language and medieval Scandinavian history. This will make up the bulk of my songs, but I hope to write songs in a variety of old languages. If you like what you hear and would like to learn a bit of medieval history through song, please consider subscribing! If you'd like to support my work, you can do so here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/theskaldicbard. Thank you for your kindness. God bless!

Juana in Norway

Hei, hei! Welcome to my humble channel, folkens. Call me Juana -- kibitzer, nicher, and late-blooming vlogger. I am originally from the Philippines who got married to a Norwegian just a few years ago. The Coronavirus pandemic somehow piqued my “creative” curiosity to try vlogging, in hope of finding interesting things that make us glow. Because I prefer writing than speaking, I have challenged myself to come up with only six words at the end of each video post to describe the topic in one micro summary. The content is mostly about random cultural interactions or cross-cultural encounters. Be aware though that the storytelling can be a hodgepodge of at least three main languages – Filipino (aka Tagalog), English, and Norwegian. Let's all see where my newfound adventure rolls! Note: The Six-Word Story concept is attributed to Ernest Hemingway because of this: “For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.” P. S. 1 I am also a rookie on Instagram. :-) juana_in_norway

bjarla

Music band (ambient folk/ pagan folk/ world music) In their music traditional folk tunes paint images of snowy open spaces and evergreen forests. The sounds of mandolins, guitars, flutes, jouhikko, lyre, bagpipes and Jew’s-harp are intertwined with texts mainly on the northern theme. The lyric voice completes this folk-mix, accompanied by powerful throat singing. Bjarla's lyrics are written in three languages: Russian, English and Swedish. The main sources of inspiration, according to the musicians, are beautiful nature, history and a bit of mythology. The word “bjarla” is coined by the members of the collective to designate a group, has northern roots, derived from "björt" ("bright", Iceland.), "bjarmi" ("shine", Iceland.). The group was founded in 2017.
