Expressive technology with paper circuits - Chibitronics blends circuits and code with arts and crafts. We make circuit stickers and other tools for educators, artists and crafters so everyone can create their own expressive electronics. Chibitronics is an evolution of Jie Qi’s passion for combining technology and art through making electronics using paper craft. The circuit stickers were developed as part of her PhD research at the MIT Media Lab. Together with Andrew “bunnie” Huang and Patricia Ng, Jie’s research has evolved into the Chibitronics toolkits. We hope to share this new way of learning circuits and creating artwork, so that everyone can become technology creators!

Scratch tutorial Scratch is a high-level block-based visual programming language and website aimed primarily at children as an educational tool for programming, with a target audience of ages 8 to 16.[6] Users on the site, called Scratchers, can create projects on the website using a block-like interface. Projects can be exported to standalone HTML5, Android apps, Bundle (macOS) and EXE files using external tools. The service is developed by the MIT Media Lab, has been translated into 70+ languages, and is used in most parts of the world.[7] Scratch is taught and used in after-school centers, schools, and colleges, as well as other public knowledge institutions. I’m currently pursuing a Master of Interactive Technology in Digital Game Development with a specialization in Software Development at Southern Methodist University (Guildhall). My interest lies in exploring technology for creative applications, with a special focus on play experiences and interaction between humans and technology. I’ve worked as a Research Intern at the HAFP Lab at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, MIT Media Lab with the Fluid Interfaces group, and at the Exertion Games Lab at Monash University. I love working on personal projects, developing games, mobile apps and web platforms, some of which are available on the Google Play Store or hosted online. I have co-authored publications at UIST and CHIPlay, and have written a first-authored research paper published at CHIPlay. I also enjoy creating content on this channel where I teach about programming and talk about my projects and experiences.

I've been making music videos since 1984, when I first discovered them at a Texas Star Trek convention. Since then, I've been obsessed by the idea of telling stories by re-interpreting the lyrics of songs in the context of TV shows and movies. They've been presented at various conventions, and were described in a talk I gave at the MIT Media Lab. I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy making them.
