They belong to the family Elephant idae and are divided into three species: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. Elephants have a complex social structure and live in tight-knit family groups called herds. Female elephants, known as cows, usually stay with their herd for life, while males, known as bulls, may leave the herd when they reach maturity. The herd is typically led by the oldest and most experienced female, known as the matriarch. Overall, elephants are remarkable animals known for their intelligence, social behavior, and ecological importance. They hold a significant cultural and ecological value and are revered in many cultures around the world.
