The Purposeful Pantry

Hi there! Welcome to The Purposeful Pantry, where we learn about dehydrating food to create fully-stocked pantries with shelf-stable food our family already loves! Whether you're saving your garden harvest or taking advantage of grocery store deals, we'll focus on preserving that food through dehydrating (as well as canning, freezing, and more), and learn how to use those foods to create meals for our families! We'll learn together to do things that help stock our pantries to help prepare our families for life's little and big emergencies, and methods to shop and preserve foods that save us money and time. So I hope you'll join us as we help each other learn and grow! And we'll do it all to the Glory of God!

Grow and Preserve

Welcome to Grow and Preserve. I'm Carter, and I'm thrilled you're here. We cover several topics here. I hope you'll join the conversation so we can all learn from each other. Gardening, specifically growing food. I have a tiny suburban lot with 8 raised beds and a few barrels and pots. Just over 250 square feet produce a ton of food! Preserving. Growing the food is only half the battle. Eating fresh from the garden is great, but we also want to preserve our harvests (or farmer's market or grocery store hauls) for later in the year. We can can it. We can freeze it. We can ferment it. We can dehydrate it. We'll do all of that together. Building a Well Stocked Pantry. How many meals can you make from your pantry (including fridge and freezer) right now? How long will this last you? If the power goes out, can you still keep your food fresh? Can you still cook your food? A deep and broad working pantry can make your life so much easier. Let's stock our pantries together! xoxo, Carter

Moat Cottage Homesteading

Permaculture, Seasonal Living, Artisan Homesteading Skills. Welcome to Moat Cottage, I'm Elissa Jayne, I started my homesteading journey last century, on large acreage in the Strathbogie Ranges, with fully established orchards, a huge veggie plot, overlooking a gorgeous creek, surrounded by hills. It was a dream location to learn & live. I then moved to the modest Moat Cottage, 1/6th of an acre including the structures. Refusing to give up the homesteaders lifestyle, I discovered that so much can be achieved on a backyard homestead & I encourage you to learn & expand your skills and experience. GROW organic vegetables, fruit & herbs. Stock and organize the LARDER PANTRY shelves. PRESERVE THE HARVEST by pressure canning, water bath canning, dehydrating, fermenting, pickling & freezing as well as COOKING in the homestead kitchen. Learn how to make NATURAL HERBAL REMEDIES & start your own Apothecary cupboard. There is also plenty of backyard MUSCOVY DUCKS & CHICKENS information too.

Sow and Tare

Welcome to Sow and Tare! We are in USDA planting zone 9b in California; we grow as much food as we can on our 7,000 sqft city lot. We have quail, chickens, rabbits, edible landscaping garden, over 40 fruit trees, and preserve food via dehydrating, canning, and freezing. I am always teaching people wherever I go and whatever I'm doing, so this was a natural progression for me to share information with more people. The name "Sow and Tare" was on my mind for about a year before I started this YouTube channel. "Sow" means to plant--for most people this is to plant seeds to grow, but it can also be used to start something in motion. You can sow a seed, sow a thought, or sow an action. "Tare" means to reset from where you are measuring from--for most people this means to put a container on a scale and make it so the container weight reads zero and is not calculated in the weight of whatever you are weighing. This could also mean to take measure only of the stuff you want--the good stuff.
