If you want to know about Afghan food and culture, you've come to the right place. I'm Mirriam, and I came to America with my family in the early 1970's. I grew up eating Afghan food and always took it for granted until I had a home and family of my own and mom wasn't around to make all the dishes that I loved growing up. So, I learned to make this food myself. I took lessons from my mother, grandmothers, aunts, cousins and from the very few books that are available on our cuisine. Afghanistan is more than just war. It is beautiful and vibrant with a culture as old as the mountains its villages inhabit. I want to share the food and stories of my Afghanistan with you. If you like the channel please subscribe. I'm Ramin, a regional truck driver from So. California. My family and I escaped war-torn Afghanistan in the early 1980's & some of my assimilation tales will be shared throughout my interviews. I'm currently a truck driver, however I've worked as a special ed. teacher and school psychologist in the past. I was a functioning alcoholic for over 20 years and finally found recovery on 1/15/2015. I conduct these interviews because I honestly love all people & my main intention is to get the word out there, that recovery is possible. Being clean has given me back EVERYTHING tenfold and hopefully together, we can inspire others to find sobriety.
